Wrong bkdunn

I’m used to getting wrong Brian Dunn emails on my brian.dunn at gmail address, but lately I’m getting wrong bkdunns as well. Most of the wrong brian.dunns are for some guy who was in the Peace Corps in Uganda. It’s kind of sad getting emails from someone else’s grandmother. Here’s my favorite to date:

Peterson, Bill R 2LT RES USAR to me

2LT Dunn:

Questions we need to ask Youngstown range:
1-Barracks
2-Mess Hall
3-Pop-up targets
4-M16 and M9 range
5-EST training (weapons skills training simulator)
6-Other training opportunities @ site
7-They have range crew?
8-Do they have any busses (we are always borrowing busses for company transportation)

These are just off the cuff. Also, you need to ask if a scouting party (me and you or whomever) can come up next week for a day or half day to make an assesment. So for that we also need directions or an address. If possible after talking to him about what days may be best, give me a call so we can possibly set up the day for the trip over the phone today (friday).

I know that you recognize this as urgent. Please treat it as such.

Thanks for all of your efforts

1LT Peterson

Names were changed to protect the relatively innocent (he *did* send this email to *me*). When I first got it, I tried several ways to justify it actually being for me. All failed. I find it interesting that 1/2LT Peterson’s email address calls him a second lieutenant and yet he signs off as a first lieutenant. Is he trying to pull something over on my namesake? Hope he doesn’t buy into it. And I’m worried about the assesment. Also, I’m not sure that I’d recognize this as urgent. I guess everything’s relative.

One time I got a wayward job offer from the National Security Agency to this address (telling me that I’d passed the security screening and asking me to complete some forms prior to starting work the following week). I often wonder whether I should’ve just accepted that one.
