That One Time I Went to New River Gorge and Didn’t Tell Anyone about It

Because it’s such an embarrassing place to visit.

I don’t even think it’s the highest bridge-over-gorge situation in the US, let alone the world. It may never have been. I don’t remember, though, because it was 2+ years ago. It’s near Beckley, W.V. I took these pictures while I was there. I’m going to type another sentence right here, otherwise WordPress won’t make it look like there’s anything worth clicking through on. Silly Word Press. You would deprive the world of these photos.

It was sort of cloudy in the morning.

There were train tracks under the bridge, but after searching for several hours, I could find no trolls.

There was also a river under the bridge.

It’s called the New River. Way better than the old river. July of 2013. I’d camped the previous night in my RV at a campground with about 25 sites, but I was the only one there. I had to buy a new RV Battery because my old one stopped working which was kinda annoying, but it didn’t ruin the holiday for me. That’s always kind of a creepy set-up. Because of the preponderance of wolverines in the area. And ghosts.

Apparently I pitched the tent. I might have taken the Prius down there. I was really poor in grad school.

It was a cool bridge.
